Chilliwack Chiefs forwards Nico Grabas and Jack Plandowksi and Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Brandon Gill have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.
1st Star – Nico Grabas (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Grabas led the BCHL in points during the month of January, finishing with 23 in nine games to average 2.56 per contest. He finished with the second most goals with nine and the second most assists with 14.
The Burnaby, B.C. product registered at least a point in all but one game and collected multiple points on five occasions. His best performances came in a Jan. 27 win over the Langley Rivermen where he notched a goal and six assists to finish with a career-best seven points. The game prior, he registered his first hat trick of the season and added a helper for a four-point outing.
Grabas leads the BCHL in scoring with 55 points in 32 games. His 23 goals are second most in the league, while his 32 assists are fourth.
2nd Star – Jack Plandowski (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Plandowski averaged over two points per game in January with six goals, 15 assists and 21 points in 10 contests.
The University of Alaska commit had multiple points in nine of 10 games during the month, including a one-goal, four-assist performance Jan. 24 against the Langley Rivermen. He recorded two points in a single game on eight separate occasions in January.
The 2005-born forward is one point back of the league lead with 54 in 36 games. He is tied for the BCHL lead with 33 assists and sits seventh in the goal-scoring race with 21.
3rd Star – Brandon Gill (F) – Alberni Valley Bulldogs
Gill collected 15 points in just six games in January, averaging 2.5 per contest. He scored five goals and added 10 helpers during the month.
The Scarborough, Ont. native started the New Year with 12 points in his first two games when he picked up a goal and six assists on Jan. 1 in a win over the Victoria Grizzlies and then had a five-point outing two days later, scoring two goals and adding a trio of helpers in a victory over the Surrey Eagles.
Gill has 34 points in 30 games on the season. He also has 30 points in 22 games since the Bulldogs acquired him from the Surrey Eagles in late October.
